Hey! You Can't Wear That!

1.     How do you feel about Michael Jeffries’ view on who should wear Abercrombie and    Fitch’s  clothing?

2.     Is it fair/equitable to target a particular group of teens?  Why or why not?

3.     How does this contribute to our already biased perception of what beauty is?

I feel that this is unnecessary because its just clothing, anyone should wear whatever it is they want to wear. Abercrombie and Fitch's policy will definitely get some attention. Depending on how you take this news will vary if it would be a good thing or a bad thing. The guy that made this policy will have a lot of people on him and how he shouldn't do this to the company. No matter what people say, he still has the final say to who gets to wear his products because of the sizes he offers. No it is not fair because every teen has the right to wear whatever they want and with this policy limiting some teens, it would not be fair just 'cause they are not a specific size. This shows that only thin people are beautiful and that the girls with sizes above 8 cannot be beautiful because of their weight. "Beauty is not the outside, but what is on the inside" - Ellen Degeneres.  

On a Tweet and a Prayer...

• How do you feel about these attempts to reach out our youth?

I think that reaching out to the youth this way is more effective 'cause the youth spends more than half of their days on social media networks. So the approach the new leader is attempting is definitely going to work. 

1. Do you think that having twitter accounts will help attract youth to take a greater role in the life of the Church?
2. What are the benefits of having our Church leader tweet?  Are there any disadvantages?
3. Does your parish take part in the social media world?  If so, please explain.
4. Are there any other ways that the Church can encourage our youth to get more involved?  Do you have any personal experiences related to this?

Yes, because while people are doing what ever it is they do on social media networks they will see tweets from the Pope every now and then and they can spread the word easily by clicking on the retweet button. This would definitely get him and the vatican a lot of attention because i think that he is the first Pope to ever reach out to the youth in this type of way. The advantages the community is that they get attention from people almost around the world. The Pope can also get word out faster to the world if there are any urgent messages that needs to be spread out quickly. A lot of adults may think that this idea might be too childish. That he may get to focused on this and disregard all of his other duties. No m parish does not take part in any social media because we have a fairly small group so a social media network will not be necessary. The church can interact with the crowd more during mass. I do have personal experience because my parish does not reach out the younger crowd. 

Social Media – The Good, The Bad and the 'Not-So-Private'

3. What kind of information are you allowing others to have access to?  Have you thought about this before?

5. How can we become more responsible users of social network websites?  Why is this so important?

Yes, I am a member of a social networking site because it is easier to connect with people from far away places and to see the latest news on everyone around the world. Now a days, teachers are making their own twitter profile to interact with the students if they need help or if students need to tell teachers something. I feel, by the end of 2013, most teachers will have a twitter account because it is more convenient to have for most cases. No because i am confident that i set my profile so that only a limited amount of people can see what i say and that i  do not reveal any personal information to any social networking website. I keep my twitter and my Facebook open to everyone so it would be easier to find me if they anyone is looking for me. I allow others to see what i am up to so they are updated on what I do. I have thought about this before because i am cautious of strangers looking through my social networking sites. Things that i consider that are safe to post would be to update people on what is going on and to promote something going on in your community or something going on around the world. Some unsafe things to post would be your personal info like passwords to your different accounts because people can log in and change the password so they could keep it. Personal information that are only for you to keep would be your SIN number because that is what the government looks at to see who you are. We can be more responsible users of social network websites by being careful of what we post on a daily basis and to ignore pop-up ads that offer us things because those are viruses waiting to happen.

1. Do you think that Khadijah’s comments about her teacher, that he “lives at home with his mom, eats fish sticks for dinner, and all he talks about is Star Wars” were appropriate?  Explain.

- What Khadijah said about her teacher was not offensive but also inappropriate. The teachers may have taken the comment offensive because it was rude for her to say those stuff about her teacher. I have a friend that did the exact same thing about his teachers and the punishment was the same. The teachers found out about the awful comments made by the students and sent him to the principals office right away. 

2. What is your opinion on the suspension of these students?  Was it reasonable for the school board to enforce such a punishment?  Why or why not?

- In my opinion the suspensions to the students were necessary because what the students did counts as cyber-bullying. It is was reasonable for the school board to enforce such punishments because the comments made by the students towards the teacher was very inappropriate. 

3. How do you feel about the reaction of the students – that they should be able to share their opinions freely?  Is it okay to post this sort of thing on social media websites like Twitter?

- The reactions of the students were unexpected because they didn't know that they were going to be suspended for what they said about their teachers. Twitter is a website that allows you to share your opinions freely, so the reactions of the teachers were a bit too much. It is okay to post comments about other people on social media websites but people shouldn't do it because it is rude and considered inappropriate.

Paparazzi : Scandalous?

1. Do you agree or disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi?

I disagree because some celebrities do not get enough privacy because of how paparazzi follow them around where ever they go.

2. How far is to far?

Posting pictures or stories of celebrities during their leisure times without their permission would be to far because they probably want some time to just do whatever they want without the whole world knowing. 

3. Why would the paparazzi use media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individuals?  Is this right?

Paparazzi use media networks to their advantage because they would want the fans to look at their perspective of the story because they want the people to get what they want and they also want to get the people to keep on looking at what they have. Media networks is also the easiest way to get things around in the world. For example, if you post a picture from France, there is a high chance that people from Canada can see what the picture is and they could probably send to their friends or family. 
The way the paparazzi use media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individuals is not right because the paparazzi twist how the real story would actually go. They would change up the words so that some people look bad while others look like angels.

4. Research an appropriate paparazzi scandal that has occurred within the past few years.  Do you agree or disagree with the way the celebrity was treated?  Why or why not?

The latest story occurred not to long ago when the news of Justin and Selena breaking up got released to the public. The paparazzi only posted the story to the public, they did not do anything to the story to hurt any of the celebrities. I agree to how the paparazzi used social networking to spread the word about Justin and Selena because their relationship is something the public would want to be involved with. 

iPhone Crazy..... or not?

1)  Are you the type of person that wants/needs top of the line  

      electronics?  Why or why not?

I can honestly say that i am not the person who needs top of the line electronics because i do not need those things to get me through the day. I made need a phone just in case of emergencies and to contact other people when ever i would need something. I would also need a small hand held device to keep me occupied while i am alone. For example i may need an ipod to listen to music and to play games on when i have spare time.

2) How do you feel about Apple’s bank of material that will be

      released over time? 

I think that apple is being smart about how they release their products. A company should not be releasing all of their products at once. The consumers will be forced to pick 1 over the other while selling them in different of time will get the consumers to purchase the goods one by one. 

3)  How do you think the iPhone might change in the years to 

      come?  What other applications/functions would you like to see 

      incorporated into new versions?

 I think that the iPhone may have new features that no other companies had thought of. I would like to see a built in pencil in the new versions because not a lot of people carry around a spare pencil.
